Qigong Meditation - Small Circulation

Qigong Meditation - Small Circulation

Product Details

Chinese Qigong is divided into External Elixir (Wai Dan) and Internal Elixir (Nei Dan) Qigong. The first practice of Internal Elixir Qigong is Small Circulation Meditation. It is known as Microcosmic Orbit in Indian yoga and Turning the Wheel of Natural Law by Buddhists. Although the concept is popular, there are few scientific documents available to the public.

Small Circulation is the foundation of Internal Elixir Qigong. One circulates Qi (bioelectricity) through the Conception and Governing Vessels (Ren & Du Mai). These two major vessels regulate Qi circulating in the Twelve Primary Qi Channels, making it strong and abundant. It is also the foundation of Muscle/Tendon Changing, which conditions the body to make it strong and healthy.

After Small Circulation, one practices Grand Circulation Meditation, known as Macrocosmic Orbit in Indian Yoga.  This circultes Qi everywhere in the body, and exchanges it with partners or the surrounding environment. Its purpose is to open the third eye and reunite the human spirit with the spirit of nature. This is the ultimate goal of spiritual enlightenment in both Daoism and Buddhism.

This book describes the theory and practice of Small Circulation and Internal Elixir Qigong. It also proposes a scientific frame of reference in the field of spiritual englightenment. Included are translations and annotations of many ancient Daoist and Buddhist meditation documents.

“The philosopher should be a man willing to listen to every suggestion, but determined to judge for himself. he should not be biased by appearances, have no favorite hypothesis, be of no school, and in doctrine have no master. He should not be a respecter of persons, but of things. Truth should be his primary object. If to these qualities be added industry, he may indeed hope to walk within the veil of the temple of nature.”

–Michael Faraday (1791-1867)
